| Charles Ashley Jr. of Marion, AR reeled in a new State record and possibly new World record blue catfish from the Mississippi River. Ashley's catfish weighed 116 pounds, 12 ounces and was caught using Spam for bait. The current World record catfish title is held by William P. McKinley with a 111 pound blue caught on Wheeler Reservoir in Alabama. Ashley will have to submit information on his catch to the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame or the International Game Fish Association before his catch is recognized as a World record. |
